Web Technology Knowledge
I have developed a variety of PHP-driven applications for the web, ranging from a simple news management system, to an application that stores and manages patient data for a surgery centre in Texas. I have written an advanced booking system which needed to cover temporary ticket reservations and appropriate ticket allocation. I have also had experience of integrating SagePay (previously known as protx), worldpay, google checkout and paypal in to existing systems that required a third party payment solution. Several clients have commented how the user guides and technical documentation (examples available on request), which I have always supplied with such solutions, are very useful and reduce the need for them to get back in touch after a project has been completed.
Recently I have been introduced to ‘web services’ such as SOAP, and used this technology to make a web site update itself by fetching information from a Microsoft Sharepoint system.
As well as having used PHP, MySQL, Javascript, (X)HTML and CSS for a number of years, I also have experience managing, customising and implementing themes for bulletin board systems such as Invision Power Board and phpBB. During 2002, 2003 and 2004, I was in charge of a thriving forum-based community with over 5,000 active members.
Since working beneath an experienced project manager, I have quickly picked up the art of confidently communicating with both the client and the development team working on a particular project. In addition to being able to establish the needs of a client quickly, I also have a flair for coming up with additional ideas that take a project that little bit further. I am always keen to inject my own knowledge and experience where needed.
